2003 cateye chevy lt lifted12/15/2023 ![]() You will want to upgrade your gears for more power and better mpg in the city unless you're like me and spend 24 hours a week on the highway and want the best mpg you can (and BFG AT are the best rubber in that size for saving gas). ![]() So with that being said the real answer is YES you can run 35" tires with a leveing kit and STOCK GEARS. Stock rim will hold 35" rubber with a set of $60 ford keys and some $50 blocks at Autozone. So far i havent been able to persuade my wife on the idea of $3000 in my truck for a tranny and gears (i do the work myself). Hell, i didnt and i still dont! I wouldnt be lieing if i said i wasnt looking into a FLT transmission, 4.88 gears, and a TrueTrac Posi, but like everyone else i dont have the $$ to get all that at once so i get them when i can. Maybe he doesnt want to spend $2000 on gears, $2000 on lift, $3500 on wheels and tires. But the question here isnt how much power he will loose with 35s just if they'll fit. I bought my truck new in 02 and had it lifted in 04 and have been running 35-40" since then with NO problems. MY POINT IS quit trying to tell everyone that they have to spend another $2000 in mods just to go to a 35" tire. I'm old by the standards of the youth presented here so i dont drive like an idiot because mommy and daddy quit paying for my gas about 10 years ago. As far as power, i'm not looking to race or show off by burning up my overpriced rubber if you're looking to do that then by all means go with 5.13s and 35s. My 38" have been on my truck for about 2 years no problem and i just measured them for you guys and they are 37.25" under the weight of the truck. My truck probably does want to run itself off the road, because thats where it likes to play.įirst off, i dont tow with the 40s, that is underpowered and my truck sits too high for the ball drop i have. Give your vehicle a little trust and i bet you'll be surprised. I'm hard on my truck and it has yet to have an issue. Sorry, i dont treat my truck like a little bi*** and baby the $hit out of it. Ranch Hand protection including running steps, front bumpers, back bumpers, and grille guards specifically designed for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Quit trying to scare everyone out of more money for a simple upgrade like someone probably scared you. So lets tell everyone who wants to upgrade that they HAVE to regear to a 35" so then nobody goes bigger and we are the only ones to have big trucks. ![]() Everyone seems to think that bigger tires means lower gears Sure, if its a 4 banger. So far i have plenty of power, even when i tow, and good gas mileage so why would i justify regearing to 4.10 or 4.56 when the 3.73 works great. The speedo can be corrected electronically but i switch from 38 to 40 regularly so i never worried about it. Actually with 40s my truck still runs fine with stock gears.
